Effective Date: September 22, 2026
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost.
Under the federal No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured, or who have insurance but choose not to use it for a particular service, have the right to receive a written estimate of the expected cost of non-emergency care before that care is scheduled.
What this means for you
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services, including psychotherapy and psychological evaluation services.
- You can ask us for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, and at any point during your care.
- We will provide a Good Faith Estimate in writing.
- If you receive a bill that is substantially more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
- Please keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
Who this applies to
This applies to clients who do not have health insurance, and to clients who have insurance but are choosing to pay privately rather than bill their plan for a given service.
If you are planning to use insurance, contact us and we will talk through what applies in your situation.
How to request one
Ask us at any time, on your free consult call or afterward.

If you want to dispute a bill
If your final charges are substantially higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be able to start a patient-provider dispute resolution process through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We are glad to walk you through your options, and you can also find current information at cms.gov/nosurprises.
Questions
If anything about fees, estimates, or billing is unclear, please ask. We would rather answer the question up front than have cost be a surprise later.
